The visit of the US Ambassador in Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, to the University of Kasdi Merbah, Ouargla

On Thursday morning, February 13, 2025, the University of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla received the US Ambassador to Algeria, Elizabeth Moore Aubin, on an official visit aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and learning about innovation and entrepreneurship projects within the university.

The Ambassador was received by the University Director, Professor Mohamed Taher Halilat, accompanied by the University Secretary General, the Vice-Directors, and University officials.

 Her tour began with a visit to the university incubator, where she learned closely about the projects of students with pioneering ideas and projects. She saw a distinguished exhibition of start-ups hosted by the university. She expressed her admiration for the level of innovation shown by the students, which contributes to the development of the digital and knowledge economy.

 After that, she went to the Intensive Language Center at University Pole 01, where she closely followed the language teaching methods and training programs available to students, praising the efforts made to develop the language skills of the center’s students, and attended part of a training course for university employees who are learning English.

The visit also included the Artificial Intelligence Department, where an exhibition of student-organized activities was held, in addition to a review of the achievements of the Center of Excellence, which is an important gain for the university that reflects its progress in the field of scientific research and modern technology. The ambassador showed special interest in this center, noting the increasing role of artificial intelligence in developing education and scientific research, expressing her admiration for the students’ ability to be creative and think ahead.

The Ambassador concluded her visit by visiting the American Corner, which is a cultural and academic space to promote cultural exchange between Algerian students and their American counterparts.

At the end of her tour, Ambassador Elizabeth Moore Aubin praised the great potential of the University of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla, both in terms of infrastructure and innovation and scientific research. She also expressed her appreciation for the vitality of the students and their keenness to develop future projects with a technological and pioneering dimension, stressing her country's readiness to strengthen the academic partnership with the university and support projects that would drive scientific and economic development.
